Frequently asked questions

What is Shift Rivals?

A side-view drag racing and tuning game by RRB Labs. You build and tune a car, launch on green, time each gear change and race one rival at a time.

Is there a release date?

Not yet. The game is in development and no date has been announced. Screenshots and videos show a work in progress.

How much will it cost?

Shift Rivals is planned as free to play. Planned purchases are cosmetic only (paint, finishes, wheels and kits); no prices have been set and nothing is on sale yet.

Can I pay to win?

No. Performance parts are bought with credits earned by racing. There are no paid loot boxes, and looks never change performance.

Will there be ads?

Ads are not part of the first release.

Which platforms?

Android, iOS, Windows, macOS, Linux. The planned stores are Google Play, App Store; no store page is live yet.

Do I need an account or an internet connection?

Online racing, earning credits and buying parts need the internet and a free account, because your progress is kept on the game server. Practice runs work offline.

How does online racing work?

You join 1-on-1 rooms, challenge friends or let the game find a rival whose car has similar potential. There is no free chat: players communicate with preset phrases.

How many cars are there?

The current build has 95 cars and 54 engines. Content may change before release.

What can I tune?

Engine, gearbox, turbo, nitro, tyres, weight and fine adjustments, with a dyno that shows the power curve. Visual options include paint, finishes, decals, neon, wheels, suspension, discs and calipers.

Which languages?

The interface is planned in 13 languages, including English, Portuguese and Spanish. The in-game radio has 20 tracks, most of them in Portuguese and English versions.

Are the cars real models?

No. The cars and makes in Shift Rivals are fictional; it is not a licensed game of any car manufacturer.

Is this about racing on public roads?

No. Races in Shift Rivals are fictional events in a game. Street racing on public roads is dangerous and illegal; take it to a track.
